Jérémy Laffon Workshop

JÉRÉMY LAFFON IN COLLÈGE BORRÉLY SECONDARY SCHOOL

MONDAY 13 OCT > FRIDAY 17 OCT 2014

Participants: 1st to 4th form classes of Collège Borrély, 2 primary school classes from Digne, one remedial teaching class from Collège Gassendi and the correspondents of the Comenus project with their teachers of all disciplines.

Programme: Artistic workshops all week with the artist Jérémy Laffon / Visits by classes participating in the “Circuit Fermé” exhibition in the CAIRN Art Centre

As part of its mission of artistic and cultural education in the school environment, the Musée Gassendi invited Jérémy Laffon to lead a participative workshop with pupils from Digne. Guided by the artist, the pupils were initiated in techniques of contemporary creation inspired by Jérémy Laffon’s work: games of chance involving construction and drawing, using unstable materials such as ink-filled ice cubes. This was a high point to which the Borrély pupils gave poetic titles: Hasard frigorifié, La saga des glaçons, Traces de l’arc en ciel gelé, Les dès décolorés, Course-poursuite glacée. In parallel with the workshop, other classes took part in creative workshops related to the exhibition: the first/second-year infants class from Salignac, nursery schoolchildren from Le Brusquet, the 1st form class from Collège Borrély, and teenagers from Le Pigeonnier community centre. In all, 24 classes from nursery to upper form secondary school discovered the exhibition and benefited from an artistic workshop, that is, 544 children from Digne and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence Département. The teachers then made us of these artistic experiences again in class, in scientific or writing workshops.
