“Pour la Nuit” by Bertrand Gadenne, video installations in showcases

Bertrand Gadenne, Pour la Nuit, 2016

CAIRN Art Centre Hors les Murs and the Inventerre Festival present installations by the artist in two abandoned showcases in the old town centre at 13 Rue de l’Ancienne Mairie and 5 Montée des Prisons, Digne-les-Bains

7 to 31 July 2016

The video artist and photographer Bertrand Gadenne attracted attention when he devised apparitions in windows of unoccupied shops. These shops, transformed into “picture display boxes”, show fixed or animated images of animals or little fictional playlets. A brief break during a walk through the town, with a luminous feature. Now, when he exhibits, he continues to attract the visitors’ attention, enabling them to interrupt the projection beam to show their own body in an image, as in the butterflies room in the Musée Gassendi.

The artist works with moments from real life. After an encounter with an owl, a rat and a snake in the streets of Digne in 2001, he returned with water this year, invited by the CAIRN Art Centre for the Inventerre Festival of Biodiversity.
