Refuge d’art, Andy Goldsworthy

Refuge d’art [Art refuge], Andy Goldsworthy, 2002-2008

Designed and implemented by Andy Goldsworthy, in collaboration with the Musée Gassendi and the Réserve Géologique de Haute-Provence, Refuge d’art is a unique, ambitious project which consists in placing contemporary creative works in a rural area. These works are only accessible by foot, inviting people to walk and giving hillwalkers the very unusual opportunity of sleeping inside “shelter-artworks”. Consisting of six mountain refuges, which are complemented by three Sentinelles, they mark a trail through the Digne area, at the foot of the Southern Alps.
