Les Journées européennes du patrimoine is an annual event that allows you to (re)discover the museum for free, its collection and exhibitions. This year’s edition falls within the annual program {Sacrées Montagnes Sacrées} that celebrates the 150 years d’Alexandra David-Néel by a series of events such as the temporary exhibition SACRÉES, MONTAGNES SACRÉES – Le musée traversé, Orient<>Occident.  The exhibition will be open during the whole weekend for free and will be commented upon by a cultural mediator Saturday at 5 pm.

Saturday the artist Lionel « Fox » Magal and his associates organize a projection and performance taking us on a road trip East<>West.

He and his brother were the cofounders of a psychedelic band Crium Deliriu ; Lionel « Fox » Magal is a plastic artist and musician and also an adventurer, who throughout his life experienced physical as well as inner journeys. In 1968 his encounter on the road to Kathmandu with the «Hog Farm», an American community founded by Wavy Gravy, a Beat Generation poet, will be a source of inspiration for his film Sur la route de l’Orient, “A visual experimental trip” that was shot from a bus in 1970.  Some excerpts from the movie will be shown followed by a ceremony during which the artist will open, for the first time in public, a magical trunk that contains Tibetan musical instruments. A light show by Philippe Duroc will accompany this ceremony.

In this event the public will also discover the artist’s book, Psychedeklik road book, the log book of his psychedelic adventures. All his artistique experiences from 1969 to now are field in this book (the journey to Kathmandu, the posters from concerts, the demonstrations …). In the book we come across a patchwork of artists and « underground freaks » (Jean-François Bizot, Timothy Leary, Wavy Gravy, la Hog Farm Community, La Monte Young, Jonas Mekas, Moëbius…).
